Animal League News

Hi… my name is Trissina,

Adopted September 1, 2016

My siblings and I already feel like little champs because we survived one mean experience. We were abandoned in a box—all five of us—and left next to a commercial dumpster. But before you even think about the bad things that might have happened, let’s move on to the important next chapter: We were rescued and brought to TALGV. Timid at first, we were unsure about the big wide world, and then they turned us loose in our run. We soon started running, wrestling, rolling around; most puppies know how to play, but I like to think we do it with style! I’m a female, tan with a white star on my chest, 18 pounds and growing, and ready for the gloriously happy experience of meeting you! Won’t you come see me today?

Jet

Hi… my name is Jet,

Adopted October 8, 2016

Do you know the best part of being a stray dog? It’s when you stop being a stray because people become your friends and they say, “Hey buddy, can I help you out?” Wow! I was so happy when that happened to me! My rescuer found me on the streets of Green Valley, where I’d been scrounging for food and not always coming up with anything; I was hungry and too thin. And I’ll readily admit that I was awfully lonely, especially because by nature I’m a sweet, friendly guy who likes hanging out with people. Now I’m okay, safe and cared for, but I’m watching for you and hoping you’re looking for me, too. I’m the 9-month-old black Lab pup who’s ready to follow your lead down lots of happy trails ahead.

Hi… my name is Daisy,

Adopted August 27, 2016

The place I came from didn’t have electricity or running water, so the first thing I noticed at TALGV was the comfort of air conditioning. Before long, I received something called a bath—the raining indoors thing was weird, but ended up making me feel really good. Since then, I’ve received lots of compliments on my soft brindle coat and I love the attention. Please know that even when I’m feeling shy, your affection is always welcome! Knowing that someone cares makes every day better; it helps with my training as I learn things that good dogs know, and just makes me happy.   I’m a sweet Boxer/Hound mix female, about 48 pounds and 4 years old, and if you could find it in your heart to take me home, I’ll love you back forever!

Hi… my name is Xavier,

Adopted September 23, 2016

When I take a quiet moment to reflect, I appreciate how blessed I am to be here. I was a lost dog, found under some bleachers, so I’m grateful for the food, shelter, and, most of all, the friendly people who take care of me now. And then in some other quiet moments, I’m snoozing, because I’m a lively young guy who expends lots of energy at play and needs his nap time, too! When you come for a visit, you might see me lounging on my bed, but I’ll definitely perk up to meet you. I’m an active 1-year-old Heeler mix male, black and white, kind of little at just under 24 pounds, but full of life. Could you be the one to give me the best gift of all—a loving home!

Thanks for looking at my pictures. My biography is under construction. Please stop back again to read about me or… even better… stop in at TALGV to meet me soon. Kennels are open 10-2 every day.

Hi… my name is Angel,

Adopted September 24, 2016

Here at TALGV, my roommate has been my mom, Blondie, and that’s been so cool for me. I’m just 5 months old and still little—about 17 pounds (and growing), so being with mom has been very reassuring. Plus, she teaches by example. If you come visit, you’ll see that I already know a lot about eating, drinking, playing, napping, and trotting out in the sunshine to watch the world go by. The volunteers say I’m very cute and smart, too, making great progress on leash training, but I think my strong suit is something I’ve always known—how to love. I’ve loved my mom, my siblings, and chances are very good that I’ll love you, too. So what do you say? Could I be your adorable puppy today and your devoted companion forever?

Hi… my name is Winston,

Adopted August 28, 2016

To stay calm on busy days at the shelter, it helps to be a pretty easygoing guy. The volunteers credit me with just that, saying that even when there’s lots going on around me here, I keep my cool. Granted, I’m a little scared, too, but my rescuer said I was the same at his house; “doesn’t bark,” he noted, and that was in a home with three other dogs. I did my best to be a good guest—being friendly, following basic commands—and after my home wasn’t found and my rescuer brought me to TALGV, I’ve tried to just keep being a friendly, good dog. I’m 17 pounds, a tan Wire Haired Terrier mix male, who may be calm, but you’ll make my heart pound with happiness if you make me yours.

Red

Hi… my name is Red,

Adopted September 21, 2016

I love making that special human-dog connection! We just look at each other and it’s like we’re having a conversation. There’s one question I can’t answer, though, and that’s how did I get lost? Guess the important thing is that I was found and now I’m here, hoping to meet you! The volunteers named me Red due to my extraordinarily handsome red coat (they flatter me), and weighed me in at just under 60 pounds. I’m a young Lab mix male, and my rescuer said I was good with kids. I’m a playful guy who knows how to have fun, plus I’m practicing “sit,” and other such things because I’m eager to please my human companions. How about we meet today, and see if we can make a happy connection of the forever kind!

Hi… my name is Marcus,

Adopted September 30, 2016

I was out for my morning jog when a woman ran up to me… Okay, I’m kidding. My rescuer was the one jogging, and I ran up to her because I was lost. Fortunately, she liked me right away and agreed to help me out. She took me home for a week, where I enjoyed spending time with her three children and four dogs. After no one claimed me, she brought me here, telling volunteers that I know the commands “sit” and “stay,” and like to play soccer and baseball! I’m also leash trained, so we can have all kinds of fun together—hiking, sports, or just hanging out. I’m an active young Boxer mix male who’d make a great addition to lots of households and has a heart full of love to give.

Hi… my name is Pasha,

Adopted 11-27-16

I was found in a dangerous position—walking down the middle of Sahuarita Road! (The pecan fields can be tempting if you’re hungry.) After rescuing me from that peril, my finder let me spend two weeks with him, but he couldn’t keep me forever, so I’m still looking for my special someone. I’m a 2-year-old Boxer mix, a nice medium size female with a beautiful brindle and white coat. My finder said I used their doggy door, would get down when told to, and got along well with other dogs. I’d say my best feature is my super sweet nature, but please don’t take my word for it! Tell my TALGV friends you’d like to meet me and let me show you up close and personal what a great dog I’ll be for you.

Hi… my name is Jose,

Adopted August 20, 2016

I was a lost little dog, depending on the kindness of strangers, when I wandered into a yard I’d never seen before. Luckily, the people there were very kind indeed. They took me in and kept me for a month, but since they’re gone to work all day, there just wasn’t enough time for me. So they brought me here, where I can meet someone who’ll want me forever! I’m a sweet Rat Terrier mix male, tan and white; a great size for cuddling and playing at just 9+ pounds. Plus, I’m friendly—I’ve been very happy to meet children here at the Animal League. Won’t you please stop by today, even if it’s just to say “hi.” Who knows—we might become instant friends and you’ll be the one to welcome me home.
