Standing in the middle of Continental Road wasn’t the brightest thing I’ve ever done, but actually maybe it was, as a wonderful couple stopped their truck and I jumped right into the back, so it worked out pretty well because I got to come to TALGV! I’m a tan, 55-pound, shepherd and Staffie mix boy, and they say I’m really a very sweet guy who loves people, gets along okay with other dogs (but not cats), so everyone thinks that I’d make a great companion for an active family that has time to devote to my education (and then to play!). My philosophy is that everyone needs a canine in their life, so I’m here to make that happen for you!

Hi… my name is Toby.
My family adopted me from a shelter when I was nine months old, and I lived with them for three months until it was apparent their resident female and I weren’t ever going to be the best of friends (but WAY on the plus side, I got along great with the two cats and kids they had!). So, that said, everyone is positive that I’ll make a wonderful companion for an active family where I can be “top dog.” I’m a handsome, young 53-pound, Staffie mix boy, and my dad says, “Toby is very cuddly, thinks he’s a lap dog, wants to please, and is a quick learner.” I’ve been to obedience school and know sit, come, let go, and wait — all really important commands for us canines to master, so I’m betting I’ll find a place of honor in your life in no time after you take me home!

Hi… my name is Harley.
I was adopted June 14, 2014.
You know siblings don’t always get along (I guess sometimes the human ones don’t either!), and that’s why I ended back at TALGV where I started out. My family adopted my brother and me together when we were puppies, figuring we’d be great pals. Sadly, as we aged, dominant personalities emerged in us both so life was not exactly serene for the family. I love people though, am a great watchdog, and have had obedience and crate training, so I really am a pretty well behaved guy when my brother isn’t around. I don’t do well with little kids (they are a bit too “grabby” sometimes), and I am definitely not a “water dog” (swimming pools and all that running around make me a bit jumpy), but with a calm (but active) family, I’ll be a model companion. Why not give me the chance to prove myself?

Hi… my name is Bailey June.
My family (which included two kids ages 10 and 12) said that I’m “very playful, loving, and cuddles a lot,” so that gives you an idea of how much I like critters of the human kind. My canine housemate, however, was a different story, and he and I didn’t get along well at all, so if there’s a home with an active family out there that’s missing the companionship of a devoted friend, then I know I can fill that void! I’m a tan and white Staffie mix girl, who, although I spent a good deal of time outdoors, would very much like to be a part of your everyday life indoors, too. Being still very much a youngster, you know that I’m chock full of energy and eager to learn new things, so I know I’ll have the basics of indoor living down in a flash. Why don’t you be the one to teach me?

Hi… my name is Rafferty.
I was adopted on June 30, 2014.
There are lots of interesting places between Esperanza Boulevard and Duval Mine Road, but I was too close to Interstate 19 to be able to check them out before a lovely lady picked me up and saved me from anything bad happening. Where I came from is a mystery, but in the short time she had me, she said that I had a sweet disposition and the volunteers here seem to agree. Although I can be a bit shy on first meeting you, I warm up to people really quickly. I’ve had a run all to myself for a while, so they’re still working on finding out my “social skills” with other dogs, but I’m doing pretty well walking on leash so I’m sure all my other qualities will become evident in no time. I’m an interesting young Boxer/terrier mix with black/tan/brindle coloring, so come meet me and see how terrific I am for yourself!

Hi… my name is Roxie.
Adoptd December 10, 2014.
When I was rescued a few years ago, I lived mostly outside and hadn’t learned all the fine points of indoor living. Well, “baby, you should see me now”! I’m a shepherd mix girl who’s been living with a foster family that says, “Roxie is now the perfect indoor dog. She has NEVER had an accident in the house. She’s happiest when she’s with her person, loves attention, is good with any size/personality dog, (fairly quiet!) children, and seems uninterested in cats. She is a tad leery of men, but is receptive if a woman is present. She loves to give kisses (she’ll lick the makeup off your face!), and is in a Canine Good Citizen class. She’s a totally wonderful ‘made to order’ dog!” So with those credentials, plus I come with FREE Vet Care for Life, how can you go wrong?

I was adopted on March 23, 2014.
Sometimes you wonder why people bring pets into their lives and then leave them in a yard to amuse themselves. I’m sure my mom (who recently died) loved me, but she never spent much time in training me, so now I’m hoping that I’ll finally find someone who will recognize my potential and make that investment. My mom’s son said, “Buddy is a good dog; he just needs some training,” and I’m here to tell you that I’m 100% in agreement with that statement! I do know the basics — sit, stay, and down — and I love to play fetch and chase a Frisbee, so with some patient guidance, I know I can be the pal you’re looking for. I’m a medium size white and tan Staffie mix who will be with you through thick and thin after you’ve made the commitment to my education.

Hi… my name is Honey.
I was adopted May 25, 2014.
My dad went into a memory care facility and my long-time girlfriend, Harleigh, and I were left alone in our home for several weeks. We had a yard and a doggie door and a neighbor who came to feed us, but we were still awfully lonely so were really glad when TALGV came to our rescue. We’re living with a foster mom at the moment, and she really thinks it is important that we be adopted together because we’ve become so dependent on each other. I’m a plus-size collie/Chow mix lady who, despite my size, loves to cuddle and give kisses. I’m on a Jennie Craig diet at the moment, so when I get back down to a “misses” size, I’ll be able to snuggle with you even more! Harleigh and I are both housebroken, good with kids, and just generally a laid-back girls, so I know that we’d be a great addition to any family.

Hi… my name is Bailey.
Adopted April 28, 2015
In 2009 I went to live with my single mom, another dog, and a cat after I’d been “dumped” at a neighbor’s home and have been there ever since. Unfortunately, her circumstances changed and she had to move to an apartment where they only allowed one dog, so “last in, first to go,” made me “odd girl out.” I’m a sweet, high-energy, heeler mix girl, who is housebroken, knows quite a few commands, and loves to play ball (I need a few lessons in returning it though!). I get along well with everyone (well, sometimes I’m a little shy), but since I spent a lot of time in the yard, I could use a little more training so that I can be the perfect companion. If you have a nice, big fenced yard, and time to spend on my education, I know you and I will be the best of friends.
Arrived January 30, 2013.

Hi… my name is Snickers.
A Snickers bar may at the top of everyone’s favorite sweet list, and I’m betting that I’ll be your favorite sweetheart too when you take me home! I was adopted by an older couple from TALGV when I was a kitten, and have been busy adding zest to their lives ever since. Sadly, dad died recently, and my mom is planning to do a lot of traveling and can no longer care for me. I’m a handsome Siamese mix gentleman who is “smart, independent, and lovable” (when I get to know you) and love to lie on my back (not the usual position for most felines!). I’ve lived indoors all my life (the way it’s supposed to be), so I’m not the “escape artist” type, and will happily enjoy the goings on outside from the safety of a window or patio door. If you’re looking for a calm and gentle companion, I’m your guy!
