If happiness is contagious, you might catch it from me. Granted, I’ve known tough times lately. I was a stray dog, found wandering around Rancho Sahuarita, and although my finder kept me for two weeks, he couldn’t find my owner. It kind of hurt that no one claimed me, but I’m past that now—especially because here, every day someone tells me what a great dog I am. And I do have lots of fun. I’m about 2 years old, an Aussie mix female who’s just 25 pounds (yes, I’m very slender), white with a tan face and a couple of tan circles on my sides. I’m very good on a leash (only occasionally making little jumps for joy), and have oceans of love to give. Will you let me give it to you?

When my sister, Shirley, and I arrived here, we were exhausted! We’re puppies, so we nap a lot anyway, but also we’d been lost! Fending for yourself is challenging any time, but at just 3 months old, we really needed some help. We were hungry, thirsty, and scared. Then we were rescued—and we became puppies who were safe, cared for, and so relieved. And now, Shirley has already been adopted! ’m thrilled for her, but a little lonely. Maybe you could visit me. Very late one night—about 1:30 a.m.—my dog friend, Smokey, and I were found running on Duval Mine Road. We didn’t know where we were going, so when we ended up here, safe and sound (courtesy of the police), it was a great relief. I’m a Heeler mix male, about 50 pounds and 18 months old, and I love making new friends. (Maybe that’s how I ended up with Smokey, although we don’t know.) When people come to see me, I’m delighted to receive their attention; my focus is totally on the person who notices what a good dog I am, capable of great loyalty. Whew! My life has undergone so many changes lately, my head’s been spinning! First, my former family and I moved, my living area going from spacious to small, then they became very busy and there wasn’t time for me. Finally, they decided that the best thing for me would be a new home. So I’m here, scared and nervous at first, but happy to be enjoying lots of my favorite things again: I love treats, toys, walks (I’m very good on a leash) and especially the company of a kind person.
