Hi… my name is Lucas,

Adopted 5-17-17

My canine buddy Cabo and I know the meaning of true friendship. When we were found at a Circle K, he had a chain collar embedded in his neck and although I couldn’t get it out, I kept licking that site, trying to help. When a veterinarian did remove the chain, we were both relieved! We’re 2-year-old Shepherd/Heeler mix males; I’m black and white, about 46 pounds, and these days each of us is having fun with our new people friends—some of whom teach us helpful dog lessons. Oh, we may bark at strangers at first, but we welcome friendly visitors—sometimes with dog kisses and invitations to play! Won’t you come see? Perhaps we can share the gift of loyalty, a feel-good thing that can last forever and make us all happy!

Cabo has achieved his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate!

My canine buddy Lucas and I know the meaning of true friendship. When we were found at a Circle K, I had a chain collar embedded in my neck and Lucas had been licking that site, trying to help. It took a veterinarian to remove the chain, but I was grateful to my buddy for caring about me. We’re 2-year-old Shepherd/Heeler mix males; I’m the brown and white one, about 43 pounds, and these days each of us is having fun with our new people friends—some of whom teach us helpful dog lessons. Oh, we may bark at strangers at first, but friendly visitors are welcome—sometimes with dog kisses and invitations to play! Won’t you come see? Hi… my name is Confetti,

Adopted 1-7-17

My seven siblings and I were found when we were tiny babies living in an empty lot. We had each other to cuddle and stay warm with, and we always had our mom. She’d been keeping us safe, feeding and nurturing us, all by herself. Then, suddenly, we were rescued! A man stopped for mom and, of course, she led him to us. Today, we’ve been living at TALGV long enough to learn that life can be cozy, happy, fun, and sometimes crowded because my siblings and I are all growing! Mom is a Heeler/Lab mix, so we are, too. I’m one of the boys, brown with white touches, and if you can give me the patience and time we puppies require, I’ll do my best to grow into a dog you’ll love forever!

Eli

Hi… my name is Eli,

Adopted 1-7-17

When I first arrived at TALGV, I’d sit at the fence dividing my doggie neighbor and me, and the two of us would silently touch our heads together for comfort. Maybe that story tells you the kind of gentle soul I am. Some folks see “Border Collie” and think I’m high energy, but the people I lived with for a few weeks described me as “very quiet, easy going, a great companion,” and a “great house dog.” They said I was gentle with small children, got along with other dogs, and love to play fetch. With two other dogs and two new babies, they rescued me but couldn’t keep me, so I’m here; a 3-year-old, 42-pound, white and brown male. The volunteers call me a treasure, but I just want to be called yours.

Hi… my name is Billy,

Adopted 12-21-16

There’s a saying that goes “life is for living,” and I wholeheartedly agree! I’m a happy, friendly, 1-year-old Chihuahua mix male, who’s looking for a home only because my person is moving to a place where she can’t have dogs. I’ve recently lived with two female dogs, so I’ve had lots of company and I like it that way! My former person said I’m great with children—hey, they’re little and I’m little… we’re good! Squeak toys are fun, too, and although I’m not officially leash trained, I’ve been doing a good job of walking on a leash here—as long as you don’t mind me stopping on occasion because I get lost in a sniff. Please come visit today! I say you can’t have too many friends, and sometimes good friends become family!

Hi… my name is Lucy,

Adopted 11-25-16

When I grow up, I want to be a dog like my mom—playful but calm, eager to please, and fun-loving, too. And you know what? I think I’m off to a good start! Mom is a beautiful Border Collie mix, and she’s been a wonderful mother. Even though she was a stray when found, she gave all her babies excellent care and teaching. For instance, on a walk recently, one of my siblings got too far away. Mom didn’t panic or get mad, but she barked at him until we were together again. That’s the kind of smart, devoted dog I want to be! I’m a delightful female, brown and white, now about 24 pounds, and if you make me yours, we can make each other happy for a long time to come!  (new photos and amended bio will be available soon)

Hi… my name is Sassy,

Adopted 10-30-16

My motto is “let’s have fun every day!” The woman who found me said that at her house I loved to play with other dogs, loved chew toys, loved treats, and I agree—play, toys, treats, they’re all good! But my finder has 10 other dogs and cats, so she sadly let me come to TALGV. Happily, the volunteers here like me, too; they say I’m “very, very sweet,” (and you know they extra-super mean it when they say “very” twice). At just 5 months old, I’m continuing to learn things good dogs know, and my training should go well since I’m what people call “real smart.” Can’t hurt that I’m real loveable, too! I’m a slender, 27 pound brindle and white beauty, whose happiest day yet will be when you make me yours.
