My former owner could no longer care for my basic needs, so now I have a chance at a new home, where the basics and maybe even more will be given. There were 3 other dogs and 3 horses at my former place; they said I got along with other animals and the kids (ages 7 and 13). But I lived outdoors there, so you can imagine how much I’m enjoying indoor time—safe, dry and comfy! And the regular company of people is great. They seem to like me, too—especially my composed, mature manner. I’m a 3-year-old black Lab mix male, and under my calm demeanor, I’m yearning to be somebody’s best buddy. Could it be you? Boy, some older cats sure do forget how to play with youngsters! You’d think having a playful little bugger like me around would add a little zip to their lives, but in my case, the prissy old thing that I shared the house with just wasn’t having any of it. I know it was hard for my human mom to make the decision to relinquish me, but since I’m young (and gorgeous, they say!), she felt an active family, maybe with kids, would appreciate my antics and enthusiasm for life more than a settled one. Mom said I’m a “loving kitty” who adores all kinds of toys and sitting in your lap, so if life’s been a little dull for you lately, my goal is to rectify that!

But when they mention rent or down payment, well, I’m happy to switch to dog talk. For instance, am I a dog who likes to play? Oh yes! Am I lively, affectionate, and interested in the world around me—especially people? You bet! And most important: Do I have the makings of a lifelong loyal companion who’ll stick by you during the good and hard times? Absolutely; just look in my eyes and you’ll see that I do. Eight-plus years ago, when I was a wiggly little guy, I was adopted into a loving home. Even the neighbors could see that I was a happy dog all the time! But this year, sadly, my person died. Of course, I still have friends. The people at TALGV will always take a TALGV dog back, and so I’m here now. And even though losing my person was very sad, I’m still that naturally happy guy, a smart and sweet dog who is leash-trained, housebroken, and good in the house even when the people are gone. I once lived in a group of dogs who’d been abandoned on some foreclosed property. When rescued, I was just 10 months old and had been in that place my whole life! Now I’m here and my days are a lot more fun. Plus, my dog pals are helping me get over my shyness with people, and even though human kindness is new to me, I now know that people can be wonderful! They give great tummy rubs, ear scratches, and take me for walks. I’m best with grown-up people only; no children, please. I don’t really understand little ones, but, fortunately, adults seem to love me. I’m a young Lab mix female, black with touches of white, about 45 pounds, and my fondest dream is to share a bright, happy future with you!
