Hi… my name is Lucy,

Adopted 11-25-16

When I grow up, I want to be a dog like my mom—playful but calm, eager to please, and fun-loving, too. And you know what? I think I’m off to a good start! Mom is a beautiful Border Collie mix, and she’s been a wonderful mother. Even though she was a stray when found, she gave all her babies excellent care and teaching. For instance, on a walk recently, one of my siblings got too far away. Mom didn’t panic or get mad, but she barked at him until we were together again. That’s the kind of smart, devoted dog I want to be! I’m a delightful female, brown and white, now about 24 pounds, and if you make me yours, we can make each other happy for a long time to come!  (new photos and amended bio will be available soon)

Hi… my name is Colleen,

Adopted 12-3-16

Since I was found outside a local real estate office, my TALGV buddies tease me that I was trying to find a home on my own. In a sense, that’s true! But when they mention rent or down payment, well, I’m happy to switch to dog talk. For instance, am I a dog who likes to play? Oh yes!   Am I lively, affectionate, and interested in the world around me—especially people? You bet! And most important: Do I have the makings of a lifelong loyal companion who’ll stick by you during the good and hard times? Absolutely; just look in my eyes and you’ll see that I do. I’m a 1-year-old female, a beautiful black and white Lab mix, who offers a constant heartbeat of love for you when you take me home.

Hi… my name is Victoria,

Adopted 1-10-17

I’ve changed since TALGV first shared my story! Oh, I’m still a beautiful, young, Red Heeler mix female who loves people. But now I’m even better! Here’s my updated story: I was left in a crate with a note saying my owner loved me but couldn’t keep me, and that I’m deaf. Well, the volunteers soon loved me, too, and praised my good qualities—smart, playful, super eager to please my person. But I barked too much at other dogs. A bad habit, right? Fortunately, inappropriate behavior can be corrected and I’m living proof! After excellent training with my enthusiastic cooperation, I can now see other dogs, even walk by them, without doing all that barking! It’s the new and improved me, all because I want to be the best dog possible for you!

Hi… my name is O’Riley (aka Riley),

Adopted 1-8-17

O’Riley comes with FREE Vet Care for Life.

I’ve been blessed to know that love between a person and a dog is a lasting thing. Before her recent passing, my person and I were together for 11 years, which was just plain wonderful for both of us. Her good friend saw how loyal I was to her and noted I’ve been good with someone who has physical challenges. People seem to appreciate my other qualities, too; I “ask” to go outside; I’m good in the house alone; leash trained; understand “sit,” “stay,” and “come;” and will “move” backwards for a treat! Plus, as an 11-year-old male, (71 pounds), I come with Free Vet Care for Life! Please come visit me soon, and you might find that the best part of me—my big, gentle, loving heart—is a perfect match with yours.

Hi… my name is Smokey,

Adopted 11-22-16

Smokey comes with FREE Vet Care for Life.

Eight-plus years ago, when I was a wiggly little guy, I was adopted into a loving home. Even the neighbors could see that I was a happy dog all the time! But this year, sadly, my person died. Of course, I still have friends. The people at TALGV will always take a TALGV dog back, and so I’m here now. And even though losing my person was very sad, I’m still that naturally happy guy, a smart and sweet dog who is leash-trained, housebroken, and good in the house even when the people are gone. I’m a 20-pound, little black and white Terrier mix male, and at 11 years of age, I come with Free Vet Care for Life! So what do you think? Will you let me add my happy heart to yours?

Hi… my name is Sonora,

Adopted 1-26-17

I once lived in a group of dogs who’d been abandoned on some foreclosed property. When rescued, I was just 10 months old and had been in that place my whole life! Now I’m here and my days are a lot more fun. Plus, my dog pals are helping me get over my shyness with people, and even though human kindness is new to me, I now know that people can be wonderful! They give great tummy rubs, ear scratches, and take me for walks. I’m best with grown-up people only; no children, please. I don’t really understand little ones, but, fortunately, adults seem to love me. I’m a young Lab mix female, black with touches of white, about 45 pounds, and my fondest dream is to share a bright, happy future with you!

Hi… my name is Pecan,

Adopted 11-17-16

I was found—well, looking at my name you can guess—in the pecan groves! We don’t know how an adorable guy like me became lost there, but we’re glad to move on to the good news: I was rescued! I’m a 4-month-old Lab mix male, tan and white and handsome as can be. My foster mom thinks the world and all of me; she says I appear to be housebroken (no accidents in her home), sleep quietly in my kennel all night, love people (will follow you everywhere), and love other dogs, big and small. She’s helping me learn what “no” means, and says that with training, I’m going to make a wonderful big guy! My two cents: I love to play! So how about we go home and have fun together!

Hi… my name is Panini,

Adopted 11-30-16

I arrived at TALGV with a badly matted coat, so I was really happy to get my hair cut! I’d also faced being dropped off at a farm where I couldn’t stay permanently. (The word “dumped” was used, but that’s so harsh, it made me feel almost as uncomfortable as those miserable tangles.) At the farm, there were 3 other dogs and 3 cats, and we all got along. There were some little kids who scared me; I’d shake when they came around, but, nevertheless, the people there said I was “very loving” and “very playful.” The volunteers here add that I’m also “very dear.” Won’t you tell them that we need to meet? I’m a 7-year-old beige Shih-Tzu male, a little guy (12 pounds) who’ll bring a lot of joy to your days!

Hi… my name is Sissy,

Adopted 12-3-16

I was rescued from a homeless shelter, and I’m thankful for the happy turn my life has taken. My rescuer kept me at her place for a month, where I lived with 8 other animals—small dogs, cats, and a parrot—and she said I was friendly with them all. I was still learning (she said I’d flinch when objects came toward me), but proved to be leashed trained, smart, and teachable… kind of the perfect dog guest! Now I’m friends with the volunteers here, and they give me high marks for lovability, too. I’m 1-1/2 years old, about 56 pounds; a sweetheart in a brindle coat. If you look in my soft brown eyes and can see the love and loyalty I have to give, won’t you agree we’re made for each other!
